Runnin' of the Green Presented by YMCA of Greater Rochester is traditionally the unofficial start of the spring running season in Rochester on March 14, 2026 at 9:30 am! The 5-mile race is a fast out and back course starting on Main Street and running along the Genesee River.​​​

In 2026, we are continuing our "Greenest Race in Rochester" effort to make Runnin' of the Green more sustainable. This year's actions include:

• Compostable water cups at turnaround water stop

• Post-Race Community Sweep. Volunteers will "sweep" the course, plogging to pick up race trash

• Option to forgo medal for discount and less waste

• Option to forgo t-shirt for discount and less waste

• Recycling and waste bins throughout the course​
